Here is a short story about me, so you will know me better.

My name is Leny Haytema-Reidsma and I am a native Friesian. I live with my husband and my children in small village Wons, near Bolsward. Ever since I turned 11 I have been in love with the Friesian horse.

I’ve been crazy about horses my whole like. "Wanda", my first pony, who I leased, was owned by the Schrale family in Ferwoude. However, I needed to bike from Tjerkwerd to Ferwoude to take care of her.
My love for the Friesian horse started in 1975 in Tjerkwerd, with the Gaastra family.  I had the chance to cool down the horses after they came in from the field.
Yes, it isn’t that long ago that Friesians were still used to till the fields! Here are some photos out of the "oude doos" (old folder), taken by the Gaastra family.

After I earned their trust, I taught them to become road-safe. I was especially busy getting the horses ready around the judging days. I worked with Friesians for 10 years this way!

Besides the working with Friesians, I also worked with carriage horses. I worked as a groom and learned very much.

I also rode Western on a Quarter Horse.Great fun to do once in a while but not my cup of tea!  During this time I stayed working with the Friesians and kept up my dressage lessons.

I bought my first Friesian in 1999, she was a yearling filly named Ymkje van Dedgum (Olof x Feitse).
In 1997 I joined a side-saddle club called the "Fleurop". With a Friesian star mare Femke (owner Johannes Bakker, Dedgum) I showed side-saddle with the club for five years all over the Netherlands .
In 2001 I bought a three year old gelding, Relt(je) van Hee (Olof x Jochem). After a good year of training, Relt became a part of the ‘Fleurop’. I also started showing him at dressage shows. Relt was a great dressage horse and at the 2002 judging he made ‘ster’! In December 2004, we sold him to California with some M1 points!

In 2003 we got her ready for the judging as a four year old and she took home a ‘ster’! We then bred her to Ritse and she delivered a colt in 2004, Okke "Fan de Iepene Hikke".  Ymkje’s 2005 baby, Reltsje "Fan de Iepene Hikke" (Beintse x Olof) was born the night of June the 9th-10th. Now I am doing dressage with Ymkje.

Ewoud is a star stallion and is 6 years old, I am riding him in dressage

Through my extensive experience with Friesians I was asked may times if I knew any Friesian horses for sale. This is how I got into the Friesian Sale Business.

This hobby started to become out of hand, so I decided to start it up professionally, next to competing and training horses. Luckily my husband Willem supports me and understands the time and money commitments. Also, his "pake" caught him early with the Friesian virus!
